Honor. What does that word even mean? At Phi Kappa Tau that means conducting ourselves in a manner above reproach. Following
the crowd, buying into the hype, and acting in ways that misrepresent your character are signs of weakness. We value strength.
So to us, Honor means to pursue a perpetual process of refinement, to not be content with being average, but to push
ourselves towards a goal of continual self-improvement. That doesn't mean we're stuck up and think that we're perfect, but we do
pursue it.
Throughout the nation, Greek communities have been compelled to leave the "Animal House" image behind,
and enter the 21st century, where expectations are significantly raised. Fighting the tide to pioneer that same attitude at the
University of Washington requires an Innovative approach. How? We pride ourselves in taking in boys, and producing men of
character, whose college days are full of positive memories, lessons learned, and life-long friendships, forged on a foundation of
mutual respect, not hazing.
Work, school, marriage, sports... Life is full of activities that require Teamwork. As an organization, Phi Kappa Tau
runs on that knowledge, and provides the setting and experiences that will turn you into a more effective teammate, capable of
flourishing in any situation thrown your way. Whether you are assigned tasks, or spearhead you own initiatives, the lessons you
learn while working next to your brother will be indispensable to your competence in the workplace after college. But don't
forget, it's also a lot more fun and rewarding to accomplish something as a team, for if we don't stand together, we'll fall apart.
