Philanthropy
The National Philanthropy of the Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity supports the Hole in the Wall Camps for
terminally ill children around the world. These camps, started by a Phi Tau alumnus Paul Newman,
are aimed at helping kids with terminal illnesses raise a little hell and have some fun. Phi Tau
here at UW has its own program called the Fairy Godsister Project which raises money for this cause.
The project involves several sororities over the course of the year with several fund raising events
including pictures with Santa, a dance competition, cookie sales, and a dinner banquet. In the last
3 years of its conception the Fairy Godsister project has raised over $7,000 and helped send many
kids to camp. The grand prize for the girl that raises the most money is a trip to a camp of her
choice to volunteer.
There is a brand new camp, Camp Korey, opening in Carnation, Washington only 40 minutes from Seattle.
This is a wonderful opportunity for direct involvement in our National Philanthropy, and we have taken
advantage of it. The brothers of the Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity have already spent a weekend volunteering
and many plan to attend camp this summer as counselors for the kids. Next year we plan on remodeling
the project to more directly involve the camp and also add more events to raise money to help this
new camp get off the ground.

Alpha Pi chapter of Phi Kappa Tau.
